Viral Star Mochakk Goes on Tour & Drops New Track “False Need”
With over 4M+ likes on TikTok and 834K+ followers on Instagram, Mochakk or Pedro Maia is globally recognized by his fans for his contagious energy, good vibes, and funky dance moves behind the DJ booth. While touring the United States, Mochakk was able to sit down with Contrast News to speak on his latest release “False Need” alongside Chris Lake’s Black Book Records, the story on how he went viral on TikTok, and how his family/lifestyle influenced his music journey since the beginning.
At only 22 years old, Brazilian star Mochakk captivates his audience during his sets through his use of dance moves and high energy that match the track he’s currently playing. He now finds himself traveling the country to play at legendary clubs and venues that most DJs dream about. One of his longest sets in the whole tour was played in Miami, FL at the infamous Club Space where Mochakk was very keen to play at.
Mochakk Partners with Chris Lake’s Black Book Records
Mochakk has partnered with Chris Lake’s record label “Black Book Records” to create “False Need” – an absolute banger and playlist essential. The opportunity to work with Black Book Records came after an intensive trial and error process. While watching Chris Lake on live streams during the quarantine, Mochakk sent his music and was able to capture the attention of Lake and his team at Black Book Records.
“I got really close to it a couple of times…it went like that for a bit and one day I actually got a negative response from a demo that I sent and i was like ‘alright today I’m gonna do a track that’s gonna get a positive response no matter what’…I was really motivated so I made False Need overnight, I sent it to him at like 8am and he answered me at like 11. He was like ‘yo this is perfect. This is the track. Let’s do it, love it.” – Mochakk
Over 10+ Million views + 500K FOLLOWERS on tiktok
One of the factors behind Mochakk’s recent boom of success are his viral TikTok videos that have collected more than 10+ million views. Not being a big fan of TikTok in the beginning, Mochakk was actually encouraged by a tweet from John Summit that pushed up and coming artists to go on TikTok. Mochakk and his content team were able to curate past videos and publish them that brought his account from 180 followers to now over 500,000 followers in just a few months. Some of his comments read “This is what loving your job means”, “DJ Freddie Mercury”, and “When I have a bad day, I will look at your vibe and get an instant hype”.

With his love of different music genres like hip hop, nu-metal or 70’s funk and soul that stemmed from both his parents and combining it with his past experience as a breakdancer, Mochakk is able to take any crowd through an emotional rollercoaster. This came through years of practice by playing warm up sets at Brazilian nightclubs like Pink Elephant at only 16 years old and teaching himself how to produce music by watching Youtube video tutorials.
