SZA Says Her Vocal Cords May Be Permanently Damaged

SZA’s vocal chords seem to have been permanently damaged from touring too much; according to her post on Instagram.

The “All The Stars” singer has been touring for 11 months and her vocal chords seem to be asking for a break. Late last week, SZA’s label, Top Dawg, put out a statement on Instagram announcing SZA’s break off the TDE Championship tour stating, “I got some bad news. I have to take SZA off for a few days on the tour. Her vocal chords are swollen and she have to rest to prevent any permanent damage.”

This Tuesday night, SZA took the news to Twitter to announce that her vocal chords have been permanently damaged in now-deleted tweets. The tweets read, “My voice is permanently injured. Great !!!!!!!!!!!! YAYYYYYUUYH!!!!!!!’n” along with, “Tonight was the test . That settles that.”, “I jus wanna be left alone my priorities are f——d up . They been f——d up . I need space goodbye .”

Apart from touring for the past 11 months, the singer was featured in the music video for Childish Gambino’s latest single “This Is America”, and was even nominated for five Grammy Awards this year—making her the most nominated female artist this year.

In an Instagram post by SZA herself, she stated and reassured fans that, “This didn’t happen overnight.” she wrote, “Ive been troubleshooting for a while now and usually steroids and pushing through help. They don’t this time. I’m not sick my voice just won’t f—-king work. If I don’t pause now I’ll be forced to pause permanently.”
