‘Stranger Things’ Actor Myles Truitt Speaks On Lack of Diversity in Casting, The True Meaning Of A Man and More

Myles Truitt is young but has the accolades of an actor of a previous time. He has starred in popular biopic “The New Edition Story”, “Atlanta”, and season 4 of “Stranger Things” just to name a few. One glance at his filmography will have casting directors and fellow thespians impressed by his titles. Truitt has had an impressive run and he intends on running in every category he can. Today we explore his journey to where he is now and progressing to a future that lies possibly behind the lens.

Many could probably tie Myles’ go-getter attitude to his Aquarian lineage but he has always had drive embedded in him. He sought a career in acting after initially wanting to sign up for a full camp for basketball. After losing that option, he found another interesting avenue in the awaiting theater camp. 3 years later, he became part of a theater program that bred the likes of comedian Kenan Thompson. From there, he auditioned for “The New Edition Story”, his acting chops impressing the casting team, and his career took off from there.

Truitt finds enjoyment in his characters as he aims to relate to every single one. Working on “Black Mafia Family” gave him a sense of family in finding love within his cast members and taught him the never ending circle of poverty versus violence. “Stranger Things” was actually fun for the star as he already knew Caleb McLaughlin from previous work as New Edition cast members.

Already a fan of the show, it was also easy for him to fall in love with the character he was drafted. He did, however, witness the significance in being one of two Black characters.

Myles hopes that in the future more inclusion can be given in various forms in media. His goal is that he educates other Black thespians on using their platform to their advantage to not only benefit themselves but also their community. Though he began in theater, Myles is eager to continue his journey into the world of film. He sees a future in acting more but also taking the reins behind the scenes.

He is currently working on a major project called “Thugs” as an executive producer. The future looks bright and fruitful for Myles; there’s no stopping him now!
