Luis Fonsi Talks ‘Ley De Gravedad,’ ‘Despacito’ and More with Contrast News
On this Contrast cover special we celebrate Luis Fonsi’s 10th studio album “Ley De Gravedad.”
The Contrast Magazine team had the pleasure of working with Luis Fonsi and his team in Miami. The inspiration behind this cover was gravity due to the album’s name. Hence why you see Fonsi floating in zero gravity: ‘Ley De Gravedad.’ The clouds represent the heights he has reached in his career.
“I decided to name the album this way because for me it symbolizes the force of attraction that song can accomplish,” says Luis Fonsi. In this album, Fonsi is able to fuse different musical genres without losing the essence that has turned him into one of the most recognized international artists of his generation.
“I love to try new things and mix different styles as I always add my personal touch,” Says the Multiple Latin Grammy winner. Fonsi’s Golden touch has left a mark on the industry and has brought to life one of the most streamed songs of all time: “Despacito.”
This collaboration with Daddy Yankee led to Justin Bieber jumping on the remix, which furthered the song’s reach and impact. Fonsi tells us that Bieber heard “Despacito” in Bogota, Colombia and reached out because he wanted to be on the project.
The success of this single continued to mark Fonsi’s success on the international stage and has brought new eyes and ears to his projects.
The Despacito singer’s new album is produced by Andres Torres & Mauricio Rengifo and contains 16 tracks that were co-written with some extremely talented composers.
The album has collaborations with Nicky Jam, Farruko, Rauw Alejandro, Myke Towers, Sebastian Yatra, Cali y El Dandee and Manuel Turizo.
It’s no doubt that some of the industry’s finest want to collaborate with him. He’s musically proven himself as he’s one of the most versatile singer-songwriters of this generation.
Fonsi’s extensive album catalogue has registered more than 42 billion streams to date. Shortly after launch this 10th album had almost one billion streams. “Ley De Gravedad” makes part of Universal Music Latino’s catalogue and is currently available on all streaming platforms.
