Is Remy Ma really the ‘Best Female Hip-Hop’ Artist?

For the last seven years, Nicki Minaj held the crown for ‘Best Female Hip-Hop Artist’ at the BET Awards.

Sunday, the 2017 BET Awards aired and the highly anticipated award was given out, but not to Nicki Minaj…

Against Nicki Minaj in the category, Cardi B, Remy Ma, Missy Elliot, and Young M.A. If you thought Nicki might have took the win for the 8th year in a row, you’re wrong.

Rumors speculating over social media that BET picked Remy Ma as the winner to stir up this ‘beef’ between her and Nicki Minaj. Kind of sounds like it, as the award is usually given based off sales and content. Maybe they also gave it to her because Nicki wasn’t coming to she event?

I mean:

*psst* Remy Ma wasn’t mentioned in that tweet…

It’s hard to tell what actually happened with the award, and what may have happened. In the end, Remy snubbed it and Nicki is unbothered (obviously). Awards don’t truly measure success and talent.

Let’s see who gets it next year!
