Donatella Versace Presents In Los Angeles Before The 95th Annual Oscars

Donatella Versace decided to take things to another playground this autumn/winter of 2023 by leaving Milan and dropping in LA for a spectacular pre-Oscars sunset soiree at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood. The 1.6M square-foot glass building was filled with some of the world’s foremost superstars- which is fitting, stating the fact that the show is in Hollywood- The guest list included the legendary Cher and her new boyfriend, Alexander Edwards—Lil Nas X, Dua Lipa, Paris Hilton, Channing Tatum, Pamela Anderson, and more.

Even though Donatella originally scheduled the show for last Friday night, she ultimately moved it to Thursday due to unfavorable weather conditions. The show began with Gigi Hadid, who wore a black jacket and skirt suit nipped at the waist and sharply tailored. The following 11 looks were a mix of black-tailored, extremely wearable looks that utilized expensive wool and other luxe fabrics like silk that was a reference to Gianni Versace’s collections from the mid-’90s.

The show also provided nostalgic looks like the coned bra and rounded shoulders referencing the Atelier Versace spring/summer 1995 collection. Denim tuxedos and jackets, little black dresses, embellished tops, statement cocktail dresses, and an encrusted crystal dress–my personal favorite– the Capri Holdings-owned brand offered a display of pieces sufficed to fulfill anyone’s practical lifestyle.

Naomi Campbell’s history with the house of Versace is no secret, so it was no surprise that she graced the runway in an ankle-grazing black dress with an embellished bustier. Anok Yai, who has been extremely busy this season, also walked for the house and even partied the night away in her look at the Versace show afterparty that overlooked the pink and orange sunset and city view of LA that played as the backdrop for the evening event.

Donatella couldn’t forget that the Oscars were near, in which she presented red carpet-ready gowns in magenta and aquamarine that were detailed and accompanied by ruffles. There was even a black one that Gigi Hadid wore- look 75 to be exact- that can also be seen worn by Lady Gaga at yesterday’s 95th Academy Awards.

You can thank Pat McGrath, who brought flawless and soft drama, that she finished with a black winged liner. Following the same simplicity in Hollywood beauty was Guido Palau, who presented unbound hairstyles that were undone, carefree, and significantly minimal.
