Creative Director & Artist Andrekza Releases ‘Oro Negro’ As An Ode To Venezuela

Venezuelan artist and creative director Andrekza has released a new project on Friday, March 11th, titled ‘Oro Negro’ (‘Black Gold’ in English) as an ode to her native country of Venezuela. The meaningful single was released by Latin record label Dim Mak En Fuego, founded by Grammy-nominated DJ/producer Steve Aoki. The track was co-produced by Edgar Vargas, also a native Venezolano.

According to a press release, the song “is a metaphor for the vast amount of oil Venezuela possesses, yet due to their socio-political and economic crisis, they are one of the poorest countries in the world.” The track speaks on the strength and resilience of the people of Venezuela.

I feel I have a responsibility to talk about where I come from and be a voice for those who are fighting a battle with a life that they did not choose. I am proud of us immigrants because we always know how to pick ourselves up from the very bottom,” says
 Andrekza.

Being the visionary artist that she is, Andrekza co-produced the track and directed the music video alongside
Lotus Visual Arts with “stylistic assistance” from Latina Poccs.

Andrekza says,
“The decision to shower in petroleum was a visual metaphor about Venezuela’s vast reserves and its inability to handle its wealth without consciousness.”
