BIA Wants You To Know Female Rap Is “Not A Phase” And She’s Launching Her Sub-Label; “For Certain.”

Get to know Puerto Rican, Italian rapper BIA, acclaimed for her rapid-fire-bars, smooth as butter delivery, eloquent style and not to mention a heavy dosage of swag. Initially discovered by Pharrell, BIA in 2021 is calling all the shots in her career with an entrepreneurial mindset; she is a real moving force in the rap game.

During her younger years, she found her love for music and decided this was the only path. Recognizing and trusting the talent within her, along with its therapeutic qualities, was something in her gut she could not dismiss. In 2018, she collaborated and released “Best on Earth” with rapper Russ. The track made waves, received a platinum certification, and even dubbed “my fav new song” by the one and only Rihanna. Fast forward to the end of 2020, she blessed her audiences and even gained new fans with the release of her project For Certain.

Beginning a new chapter with Epic Records, the title was earned through a line in her single “COVER GIRL.” As the line goes, “Cover girl for certain,” she was living those words at the moment, feeling sure about herself on a personal and artistic level. The project is a “full thought out body of work,” inspired by real-life events and channeled into her art form. By the end of the eight-song tracklist, she wants fans to have received a confidence boost and feel like there’s nothing they can’t do.

BIA isn’t the only one sending this message with her music, and we should be thankful. Often dismissed in the past, female rappers in recent years continue to pioneer and mark achievements that would’ve been unheard of two decades ago.

“Women in rap is really a thing; it’s not just a phase, it’s not one girl, and it’s many girls.” Citing the need to level the playing field as not only are more female rappers present in today’s musical landscape, they’re also “really good.” If the charts have anything to say, it’s that there’s plenty of room for everyone at the table.

It is very evident BIA has evolved and grown as an artist since her debut, and through this, she has adapted a severe business like approach to her career.

Maintaining creative control in the music industry isn’t easy, but she has managed to do so in her sound, image, and the cherry on top: owning her masters (cheers to that!). On her P’s and Q’s, she has proven she isn’t one to toy with.

As far as accomplishments go, she ended 2020 with a bang. However, starting with the New Year, she wants to garner more business deals and brand endorsements. Recognizing they’re not enough female rappers who are also entrepreneurial and she wants to lead as such. Brands should lookout because BIA is ready to venture into the beauty world and mark her place in the field, expressing her passion and love for makeup. In addition to that, she is ready to add one more achievement by launching her sub-label “For Certain.” Mentioning the idea of signing producers and welcoming new talent by mentoring them the right way.

Remaining faithful to her core “just elevated,” BIA knows her worth and no one can sway her otherwise. A believer in being authentic and tapping into her true self set her apart from the pack. Authenticity is the key for her to being iconic. Intelligent, graceful, and powerful, BIA is showing the world she’s playing to win.
